For many of us sitting down and watching the news, our favorite TV program, or simply taking a nap is an integral part of the day. This is often most comfortable in a recliner, but it can be hard to find the perfect position in many traditional lazy boy type chairs. Also many times in order to keep your recliner in the horizontal position you must keep constant pressure on the back of the chair. This means that if you lean forward to get the remote or to take a drink the back of the chair raises as well. This can make it hard to get comfortable and often makes it very hard to take a nap. A lift chair can solve this problem.
Lift chairs are recliners whose base rises to help you stand at a safe and steady pace or to slowly lower you to a sitting position. These chairs are great if you or someone you love has trouble sitting or standing. They are also great if you are a caregiver because often the hardest and most stressful part of your day can be helping your ward stand or sit. It can also be a big strain on your back if you have to physically lift someone out of their chair. Lift chairs, using an incredibly easy to use remote with large buttons, can take the stress out of getting up and sitting down and are often recommended by a doctor. They are also extraordinarily comfortable.
In addition to providing an incredibly safe way to stand and sit, lift chairs have a reclining back and foot rest, commonly referred to as an ottoman. The back rest and ottoman are controlled by the same attached remote that is used to lift the chair. Since the back rest is controlled by a motor in the chair it is a cinch to find the perfect position for sleeping, reading, or watching TV and the best part is that once you take your finger off the remote, the back stops moving. This means that you do not have to worry about shifting your weight and the back of the chair raising.
Lift chairs come in models that are referred to as 2-position, 3-position, or infinite positions recline. This does not mean that these chairs will only have 2 or 3 positions like a traditional recliner. It actually refers to the degree that each chair can be reclined. Typically a 2-position chair will recline up to 45 degrees and you can stop the chair at any position up to that point. 3-position chairs recline to an almost 180 degrees to achieve a nearly horizontal position. Again you can stop your chair at any point up until that point so finding the perfect sleeping position is a snap. Infinite position chairs recline more than a 3-position chair and the ottoman operates independently of the back rest. This means you can recline the back rest but keep the ottoman closed. Certain models even allow you to elevate your feet.
Lift chairs provide a comfortable and luxurious way to read, watch TV, or to nap or sleep. They will quickly become your favorite place to sit and are great if you have trouble standing or sitting.
